INFORMA's DBK Sectoral Observatory recently published these insights in the 'Industrial Laundry Services' Special Basic Report.
Madrid, 17 March 2026.- According to INFORMA's (Cesce's subsidiary) DBK Sectoral Observatory, a leading provider of business, financial, sectoral, and marketing information in Spain and Portugal, sales in the industrial laundry services sector performed favourably in 2025, although they slowed again, amid continued slowing in growth in some of the main client sectors.
Market value stood at €1,010 million in 2025, representing growth of 4.7%, versus 7.8% in the previous year and 15.5% in 2023.
By client sector, demand from the hotel sector slowed, amid the smaller increase in the number of travellers and overnight stays recorded in 2025. Nevertheless, this segment remained the most important, accounting for 54% of sector revenue.
Next came the healthcare sector (hospitals, clinics and homes for the aged), which represented 27% of the total, followed by restaurants (11%) and industrial companies and other clients (8%).
The market will continue to grow over 2026-2027. However, the slowdown trend will persist, in a scenario of decelerating overall economic activity and weakening household consumption, meaning the increase in sector revenue could stand at around 3-4% per year over this period.
Most companies operating in the sector are small and focus on running a single site. However, alongside them there is a small number of operators of a certain size with several sites and broad geographic diversification.
Leading operators carried out acquisitions in recent years, resulting in increased concentration.
As a result, the sector shows high business concentration: in 2024 the top five operators held a combined 61% market share, rising to 68% when considering the top ten competitors.
